My Videos
I wanted to create a page to help you sample some of my video content, and to provide an easier link to all my public videos, which are available on MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL. I also wanted to include some videos made by readers of my books. I'll start with my own. Reader-made videos are farther down on this page.
The first two really slideshows of my photography, both from travel destinations and the great outdoors, designed to share some of the beauty I've seen. This one, Beautiful Natural World, is Nature shots ony:
Beautiful World has travel photos of man-made beauty mixed in:
This is about as simple as it gets, a 24-second moving photograph of the sunset at the beach at the end of my street. I played with panorama software until it struck me that all I had to do was switch to video. And you even get the sound and movement of the surf that way:
Also very simple, this is a short bit of footage I took on a stormy day of pelicans surfing the air currents just on top of the waves. I've always been fascinated by that, so was happy to have it to share:
This is a video from a day I got brave enough to take my camera (in a dry bag, of course) kayaking with me in Morro Bay estuary. It features white and Pacific brown pelicans, and an otter doing the backstroke:
This is some footage I took on a 21-mile day hike from my home to the Ragged Point Inn near Big Sur. It has lots of playfighting by lots of elephant seals. And you can hear the sound they make, which I could never in a million years describe. I find it calming, and I hope you do, too:
And speaking of calming, I love the sound of rushing water. Which I why I hike up to the top of waterfalls in Yosemite National Park. And I get up very early, so there's no sound but the water:
There's a lot out there on my YouTube channel. In a lot of different categories. Want to see Tule elk milling about in a heavy fog? The windmills that Sebastian and Maria see from their new home in Chasing Windmills? Waterfalls at Salmon Creek? Or Yosemite? Or the Columbia River Gorge? Author interviews? The story of how the Pay It Forward novel was born? A Nutall's woodpecker in the tree beside my driveway, waking me up in the morning? It's ecclectic, but it's all in one place. Reader-Made Videos
I keep finding these videos about my books on YouTube, and it doesn't feel good enough just to hit "like." I feel I want to honor the person who went to the trouble of making them by showcasing them in some way. If you have a book trailer, a book review video, or anything you created about me and/or my books, let me know. I'll feature it on this page.
First up is a book trailer for my young adult novel Diary of a Witness, created by a teen reader:
Another couple of teen readers created this Becoming Chloe trailer:
On a different note, this is Marla Miller's video contribution as one of my Fabulous Readers:
And here are some video reviews I particularly like:
