Welcome to one of two pages on this site that I dedicate specifically to Pay It Forward. The other is the Pay It Forward book page. But the page you're on now is about more than just the novel. It's about what's going on with Pay It Forward in the real world.
The book and movie came out in the year 2000. More than 13 years ago! But the real-life Pay It Forward movement is going strong. In fact, it's bigger than it's ever been, and getting bigger all the time.
The Pay It Forward Foundation is still doing its work, and I think things are going to be looking up for the Foundation soon. Because a guy with more (positive) energy than anyone who's ever touched Pay It Forward has taken the wheel. His name is Charley Johnson.
Charley is the creator of the Pay It Forward bracelet (as of October 2013, Charley has sent over 2.3 million bracelets to people in 126 countries) and President of the Pay It Forward Foundation. And he's launched a terrific new website called the Pay It Forward Experience.
He's posting videos of what's going on in the movement and sharing news about exciting events like the Pay It Forward Hall of Fame, of which I'm the first inductee! (But that's not the important part. The important part is that there will be many more!) Check out my video announcing the Hall of Fame:
When I first started the foundation, I tried to do this with the Pay It Forward Movement site. To chronicle the real-life stories as a way of bringing good news to those interested in Paying It Forward. Trouble is, it got to be a full-time job.
Now for the good news. Charley has left the business world and is devoting himself to this movement full time. Check out this video to get the backstory behind the Pay It Forward bracelet:
And Charley has done several TEDx talks. Here's the most recent one, as of this writing:
Want to know more? All you really need to do to get a feel for what's going on is to visit The Pay It Forward Experience.
Charley says he's going to make this, "The biggest thing the world has ever seen."
And you know what? If anybody else said that, I might not believe it. But this is Charley. And nothing is out of the question when Charley goes after it.
Thanks, Charley!
