Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my official blog. If you're looking for something in particular, you might want to type keywords into the search feature on the left-hand side of the page. And I've added a BLOG INDEX on its own page (a bit more complete than the one below) to make it easier. Poking around is also encouraged.

And please do leave comments! Don't be confused by the "author" field in the comment form. When you are writing a message to me and my readers, you are the author. (Nice role reversal, huh?)

Marketing the Muse

Marla Miller is an old friend and former colleague from the Santa Barbara Writer's Conference.  She hosts a great site for "writers on the road" (meaning the figurative road to publication), and now I've joined with her to provide some curriculum to fellow writers.

My first contribution is a short video about the the virtual book tour.  You can view it HERE.  I enjoyed sharing my opinion (hint: it's a high opinion) of book bloggers, who I call the "new hand-sellers" in today's book market. If you're a writer, and feel intimidated by the online world, I hope you'll check out what I have to say, and I hope it makes getting started just a little easier.

I will be doing other vlogs for Marla in the coming months, so stay tuned, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on this blog.

A final thought.  All writers are writers on the road.  I'm just as much on the road as you are.  Maybe I set off a little earlier, and I'm a bit further on, but it's an arduous process for all authors at all phases of their careers.  If there's anything I can say to make it even a little bit easier for others, I'm happy to try.

Please let me know what you think!

And that's the truth Catherine. W e're all traveling down the road we hope brings light to our work/words. The fact that you're willing to take time to share means a lot to us. Writers really appreciate support/advice REALLY successful writers are willing to give AND i really loved your vlog. Look forward to our future collaborations.
Best to you & your fans,
Marla

Thanks for everything I found here!
It is a real joy to stay here!
About this article...
I am an author too...
I met the concept "Pay It Forward" some years ago, but only today I came to reach the Being behind the concept. And I nedd to say that it is one of my great moments in life. Something very much alike your story with the car in fire, long time ago. It is funny how the Law of Attraction works...
Now, speaking about this endless road of being a writer, I started walking it back in the sixties. I was a kid then. My first book took its first flight into the Universe, in 2007 though...
Why? To make a long story short, my primary language is Romanian. I was born in the communist Romania. At that time, being a published writer, was something like this: Wether you write what we say, or you're nobody.
So... my choice was... Nobody. However, trying to move away from this path of writing, seeed to be a bad choice.
I am sure that you can understand the following: Some people get very sick without actually being ill.
It's weird, but it's like a poison flowing in the air and when you do the wrong move, you breathe it deep into your lungs. And it hurts... This is how I felt about this story. It reminded me that whatever I did for my day to day living, writing came back. Again and again...
Back in 1991, I burned out over 1,600 pages of manuscripts. Over 20 years of writing... Just to please my ex-wife, as it was at that time. But now, I see it very differently. It was the time to start it differently. Although it took me another 16 years, now I know that it was my way. From the beginning. And it will remain...
Again, thanks for sharing your world with us!
It is a great comfort and help for anyone who is somewhere on the path. And we all are "somewhere on the path".
