Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my official blog. If you're looking for something in particular, you might want to type keywords into the search feature on the left-hand side of the page. And I've added a BLOG INDEX on its own page (a bit more complete than the one below) to make it easier. Poking around is also encouraged.

And please do leave comments! Don't be confused by the "author" field in the comment form. When you are writing a message to me and my readers, you are the author. (Nice role reversal, huh?)

Everybody's Casting Call

Here's a fun thing that I sincerely hope a few of my readers will try.  There's a great site, www.storycasting.com.  I was just reminded, via a Storycasting "tweet," that it was May 1, 2008 when I "cast the first cast" on the new site.  (First author cast, really, but I couldn't resist saying "cast the first cast.")  I was invited to participate, it sounded like fun, and I went out and cast the theoretical remake of Pay It Forward.  (Don't get me started.)

Since then, I've cast some of the characters for a few of my other titles, so you can see how they look in "the movie in my mind."

Now I'm inviting you to give it a try.  I think it would be great fun to see how these characters look in other people's minds.  It doesn't have to be Pay It Forward.  In fact, it doesn't have to be one of my books.  But if it is, please come back and leave a comment, and say what you cast, so I can check it out, and others can compare their casts with yours.

Click here for the page with all my books.

After all, it's free, it's fun, and it's a game just for readers.  What's not to like?

It's hard to think of anybody better than Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osmet for Pay it Forward. Maybe Holly Hunter? Nobody could have played the bad boyfriend better than Jon Bon Jovi. EVERYBODY knew why she kept taking him back. At the time I would have liked to see Morgan Freeman in the Reuben role, but he's too old now. Maybe he was then, but he has that gnarly, smart, brooding thing that would have worked great.

I also thought Nick Cage would have made a great hero for Electric God. Too bad that didn't go through. Although I could see somebody really reckless, like-- is his name Tim Olyphant?--from "Justified" do the part.

How about Peter Fonda for the old guy in When I Found You?

I'll have to think about the others...
