Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my official blog. If you're looking for something in particular, you might want to type keywords into the search feature on the left-hand side of the page. And I've added a BLOG INDEX on its own page (a bit more complete than the one below) to make it easier. Poking around is also encouraged.

And please do leave comments! Don't be confused by the "author" field in the comment form. When you are writing a message to me and my readers, you are the author. (Nice role reversal, huh?)

Must. Give. Books. Away.

So maybe you've noticed I have no current giveaways on my blog. No wonder I'm getting sweaty around the collar. Hate to go too long without giving books away.

Behold the advance reader's copy (or proof, as they call them in the UK) of next Spring's UK hardcover title, When You Were Older. It has it's own page on my site already, so either of those links you just read through will get you to more about it. Hope you like what you hear.

My Transworld editor, Sarah Adams, sent me a lovely stack of these with a note saying there were a few extras, and she figured I would know what to do with them. And I'm sure we're all on the same page here...what do you do with books? Right. You get them to readers.

Comment. That's all. Just comment. Make sure I know your email address in case you win (but do enter it into the form, not in the body of the comment itself, because I doubt you want the whole world to know it). I'll collect entries for one week. Then, if you don't live in some terribly far-flung country, I'll see if I can't get your prize to you by Christmas.

Happy holidays, and I'll give away more of these in the new year, so stay tuned.

You are releasing books faster than I can read them these days ;-)

Congrats on another wonderful-looking novel!

It would totally make my year to be on a slip of paper in the hat you're pulling lucky winners out of!! Lol, Chicago's not too far-flung is it?

December 8, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKristina

Okay, Buddy, the cover has me entranced and intrigued! :) :)

December 8, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPatty Ann W

Obviously not entering (not because I wouldn't love the book, but because it wouldn't be right for it to travel from the UK to the US and back again!), but good luck to everyone else!

December 8, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSara

I just finished reading Don't Let Me Go. I thought it was your best book - so far! I'm going through Catherine Ryan Hyde withdrawals and I need a new book by my favorite author!!

December 8, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterFran

Sounds like a great read!

December 8, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermaria

Oh my Word! Another book from you! I can't wait to read this! I really really hope to win a copy! :)

December 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLen Lambert

Would love a copy of this. You're my favourite author and I'm always excited about your new books - have just finished "Jumpstart the world", which I thought was great. I'm hoping Santa brings "Don't let me go" for Christmas!

December 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJennie

I wonder if I could get a copy of this.
I live in the Philippines.
Not too far but never near.
I would really like to get a copy.
If you wouldn't give me one, I'll buy one.
Is this out or if not, when?

Happy Holidays Miss Catherine! ;p

December 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJeth

Not out until March. And Happy holidays to you, too. If you don't win this one, I'll give away a couple more between now and then. You can keep entering.

December 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCatherine

Hi Catherine. Would love to win a copy - I'm in the middle of 'Don't Let Me Go' and I'm loving it. Wanted to let you know as well, that about a month ago when I was in Sainsbury's doing my food shopping I saw a copy of 'Don't Let Me Go'. It was number 17 in their chart. It's so great to see your books there - I can remember when I first starting reading your books and it was quite hard to get them here in the UK. It's wonderful to see they're so easily available and so many more people can get to read your fantastic stories!

Here I am again commenting on your awesome work. I guess some fans are such a pain, right? haha
The thing is: I am moving to London next month and I would love to have a copy of your new book. Actually I have like 500 books here in Barcelona, and I'm taking all yours with me to London. Lucky me they don't weigh too much, right? :D

I wouldn't start a new life, wherever, whenever, without a Ryan Hyde. That wouldn't be a life after all, would it? Well, maybe a crappy one...

Love,

Abel

You're such a sweetheart, Abel. If I had known you were moving all my books across part of an ocean, I'd have tried to write more slowly.

December 10, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCatherine

Dear Santa,
I have been both bad and good, mostly good. I have both given and received, mostly given.

For volunteer work, I enter my dumpster at least once per week to empty as much plastic as I can out of it, and remove the plastic to the readily available recycling container. I do this in the hopes that I am helping mother earth, even a little bit, by diverting the non-biodegradable from the landfill.

I think she is happy because I have also received much bounty from that dumpster, of fine canvas, foam core, framing wood and plastic sheets, and all colors of mat-board from the local wasteful Giclee printer.

Much of what I recover is of a finer quality than what I could purchase, so I am very thankful for my diving activities; for the earth and for the art materials.

And so It doesn't seem right to ask for a present, with so many presents in my everyday life. But if I had a wish, I would like to be taken away for Christmas to another world, and I would prefer to not have to leave the comfort of my studio.

I cannot imagine what sort of gift would both take me away and keep me home and cozy...
Ill leave that to your discretion.

Thanks so much, and love to ms Claus and Ella.

I would absolutely love to win a copy of "When You Were Older" because at 65 years old, I know that I am NOW old enough!! Thank you Catherine and Merry Christmas to you, your Mom and Ella.

December 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPat Wieczorek

Hi Cartherine.
Can't compete with some of your fan and readers, wish I had some of your fans! Taking me some time to gain as many as I have actually. Not working to hard, but 2011 will be my year. I have actually been concentrating on others. Seems my heart is torn between selling my books and caring for others. I really care for my friends, such as you and your PIF group and the homeless and hungry and others that I look for and care after. So I can't compete with your fan base, but I value your friendship, love your books and wanted to say hello and remind you that I love you and thank you are an angel..... Have a Happy Christmas and I will talk to you soon.... Mary-Elizabeth
