Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my official blog. If you're looking for something in particular, you might want to type keywords into the search feature on the left-hand side of the page. And I've added a BLOG INDEX on its own page (a bit more complete than the one below) to make it easier. Poking around is also encouraged.

And please do leave comments! Don't be confused by the "author" field in the comment form. When you are writing a message to me and my readers, you are the author. (Nice role reversal, huh?)

My Blog: In Case You Missed It

Recently I've had two long trips plowing through my older blog posts. One was in search of travel posts to pin on Pinterest. (Yes! I'm on Pinterest now! And if I may be allowed to say so, I think my boards are starting to look somewhat cool.) The other was to add share buttons on the posts that still feel relevant.

Here's what I discovered: there are quite a number of posts that have fallen back into the archives, where they are unlikely to be found by any but the most diligent and non-busy surfer. And they might be relevant, and might interest more recent readers/followers of this blog.

And so I thought, There must be a way to organize these older blog posts to make them easier to find.

Then, for the eleventy-millionth time, I discovered I can make this website do lots of things I never knew it could do.

Too late for long story short, but I've added both a blog index widget on the right sidebar of my blog, and an actual Blog Index page. The widget allows you to access older blog posts both by month and by category. The Blog Index page does both of the above, but also links to each and every post by title.

So if you're new here, take a look around the Index page. If you came here because you like photography or the great outdoors, click on Hiking, Kayaking & Travel. If you're a pet person, the Pets, Mine & My Readers' category might be fun. If you want to know more about me as an author, there's Announcements. And if you want to know more about the me behind the books, try Opinion Pieces. Pay-It-Forward interested folks have their own category, of course. And there's a Just For Fun category that brings you four crazy authors (present company included) betting the writing of a short story on the Kentucky Derby, and the truth of my relationship with the Princess Lamballe (I have none, but I guess that's a spoiler).

And of course my recent Author Friday category takes you directly to the author interviews, which turned out to be an even better idea than I'd thought.

Technology marches on. And I trudge after it.

Aren't we all just trudging after technology? At least I can say I'm second in line for the march at my house. My hubby gets an upgrade, and I get his old stuff... Okay the netbook is all mine, because the kids took over my desktop. :}

I'm going to have to paruse your categories at soem point, being new here and all..

But I wonder - does your blog have a subscription button ability? I was looking for one the other day and couldn't find it.

Hi Cathryn, and thank you for asking what turned out to be a very good question. Yes, I have a feature that lets you subscribe to my blog with RSS. But in the changes I've been making, I had accidentally buried it, making it very hard to find. If you hadn't pointed that out, I might not have noticed for quite a while. So you did me a service. If you look again on the right sidebar, I think you'll find it easily. It's right under the list of recent entries, and now has a clear heading "subscribe to my blog." Thanks!

Well, I appreciate your thoughts, and I'm honored to be the subject of your English composition. But I don't think of myself as a great person. Just a person, like everybody else, except I love to write stories. But thanks so much for your comment.
