So. Much. News.

I may never get to say this again. So let me say it now, while I can.
I have two new books out this week. Well...I announced the arrival of Don't Let Me Go last week. So I might be stretching a point just slightly. But today is its official launch date. So it feels a lot like two books in the same week.
Because, thus past Tuesday, How to be a Writer in the E-Age...and Keep Your E-Sanity!, which I co-wrote with author and publishing industry blogger Anne R. Allen, became available in e-book format. Both a US and UK edition. Paperback editions to follow.
Here are the big announcements, the things I want you to know today:
1) The Don't Let Me Go ebook is free. But only today and tomorrow. In the past my US ebooks have gone on 5-day free promotions. But this one is short. But it's still plenty of time to go snag a free ebook. But go do that now, because these prices won't last. (If you don't have a Kindle, you can download free Kindle software from Amazon. If you have a Nook, or other non-Kindle ereader, click here for conversion instructions.)
It's also available in paperback. But not for free. Sorry. There are production costs involved with paper books.
2) I'm doing a web event to celebrate the launch. It's today, June 29th, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific, 6:00 p.m. Eastern. It's also free. Catch the theme here? I'm trying to go easy on your book-buying budget. More details in my blog post Join Me For a Live Event.
3. How to be a Writer in the E-Age is on sale for only $2.99, but for a limited time. And I don't know how long that limited time will be. So, if you're a frazzled writer (Ha! Like there's any other kind of writer!) you might want to snag one of those, too. It comes with free 6-month updates to keep the information current. Not a bad deal for three bucks.
I know that sounds like enough news to last us, but just a peek into what the future holds, especially for ereaders. Over the next four months, my four out-of-print backlist titles, Funeral for Horses, Earthquake Weather, Electric God and Walter's Purple Heart will come back into "print" in ebook editions. Why ebook only? Because these books have already been traditionally published in the US, and there are lots of new and used hardcovers floating around. You can find one of those titles quite easily on the Internet, and probably for less than the cost of a brand new trade paperback. Still...they're coming back! Then all my books will be in print again!
Finally, look to the holidays, maybe even as soon as Thanksgiving, for When You Were Older, the next new US fiction release to follow Don't Let Me Go.
Whew! I think that's all the news. Which is not to say I don't think it's enough. Thanks for stopping by the blog, thanks for reading this, thanks for reading my books. As always.

Many thanks for the announcement regarding your new How to be a Writer in the E-Age, Catherine. As a frazzled reviewer with the hopes of becoming a frazzled writer, I had to grab this one.
Thanks again!
Thanks, John. I hope you find lots of useful information to help you on your way.
Catherine,
I am SOOOO glad you are bringing back some books as ebooks!!!! I WILL be purchasing them to add to my collection of YOUR books! I LOVE how you write, the storylines, the stories themselves, and I can go on and on and on!!!
I WILL be writing reviews on my blog, too! (Don't Let Me Go is a given! I LOVE it!!! I'm almost done! I HAD to put it down as I had a book that is on Tour I had to write a review on and HAD to read that one. The WHOLE time I was reading that book, I was thinking of YOUR book! LOL!!! NOW I'm back to it!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Grace!!!) For the RE-released ebooks, I will make SURE to announce they are available as ebooks ONLY! I surely understand 'why' you are releasing them this way instead of the paperback version. Makes total sense!
I am starting to have to keep a journal of the books I have on the Kindle! By title alone, sometimes you can't recall what they are or are about! I'm going to do it by author.
It's kind of funny - I have SOOOO many journals on books!!
I have 1 journal of books I have to review in the front. In the back of that one it has the reviews I have written, and that way I know and can keep track that they WERE DONE! With ebooks, it's SO easy to LOSE them! Kind of like 'out of sight, out of mind'. I HATE that part! I WISH Amazon would do some things differently to make it easier for US with the books we have on the Kindle and the books that are in "The Cloud"! I DO find if I don't keep this journal in particular, I DO FORGET ABOUT THE BOOKS FOR REVIEW!!! This was my answer!
My 2nd journal are notes about the books so I can WRITE the reviews! It's hard when I read SO MANY books, as I tend to forget names, places, etc. They 'can' merge together sometimes, so you have to be careful
I have a couple other journals with notes of 'this and that'!
Journal, journal, journal!!! LOL!!!
I am SUPER looking forward to MORE books from you!! I want them ALL!!!! Especially the NEW one after Don't Let Me Go!! "When You Were Older" sounds VERY interesting!! I can't imagine what that one could be about! It's like it was in the past but it's NOW??? That, will be VERY interesting!!!
Thank you for rereleasing the books! I look SOOO forward to them! Heck, I look forward to collecting and reading them ALL!!! Honestly, I did not know you have written THAT MANY! WOW!!!
PLEASE ALWAYS CONTINUE TO WRITE!!! I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF YOUR WRITING!!!!
Thank you for writing stories that touch the heart in such a special way! You are always writing for the positive! To touch people's lives, and I LOVE that!
Thanks!!!
Laurie Carlson
PS. I will leave a comment when I post any reviews I do on your books!!! As a matter of fact, if Don't Let Me Go stays at 2.99 for a while, I have a blog hop I am participating in and am going to put that up for the Giveaways!!!! I KNOW people will LOVE that book!!!
LOVE your blog, too!!!
Hi Laurie, Really happy to have you as a new reader and fan, and I hope your enthusiasm is contagious! My favorite line from your comment is the one about how I write for the positive. I like that a lot. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy everything else you read.
