Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my official blog. If you're looking for something in particular, you might want to type keywords into the search feature on the left-hand side of the page. And I've added a BLOG INDEX on its own page (a bit more complete than the one below) to make it easier. Poking around is also encouraged.

And please do leave comments! Don't be confused by the "author" field in the comment form. When you are writing a message to me and my readers, you are the author. (Nice role reversal, huh?)

No More Ebook Only!

Here's a happy announcement. When I first published My two newer short story collections, Subway Dancer and Other Stories and Always Chloe and Other Stories, I published them as ebook-only. I don't sell nearly as many paperbacks as ebooks, and it was a little faster and less expensive. But I had an incredible year, and I feel it makes sense to reinvest in my independent titles. And not everyone embraces ebooks (and even among those who do, sometimes a paper book is nice).

Now both of these collections are available in paperback.

The next bit of good news is that my collection of creative nonfiction The Long, Steep Path: Everyday Inspiration from the Author of Pay It Forward, will very soon be released in paperback as well. Watch this space for more announcements.

One last bit of fun: if you are one of the people who "like" my author page on Facebook, I'm doing a giveaway with these books. In a couple of days I'll be choosing six people at random from among those who comment that they enjoy short stories and paper books. I'll give away three of each of these. And when The Long, Steep Path is ready, I'll give away some of those, too. So if you are not following my Facebook author page, now might be a good time to start.

As always, happy reading!

In my opinion I think you should have made paperbacks in the beginning because most people enjoy books more

Actually, Charon, ebooks *are* books. And the truth is, more than 95% of my readers read on their Kindles now. So the paperback edition was created for a much, much smaller segment of my readers. However, I still value them and I'm happy to be able to give them what they want in a reading experience.

Hi Catherine! We haven't spoken in a while. I was seriously remiss last spring (I think) when I finished Where We Belong and didn't write you to tell you what a beautiful, wonderful story you told. It was a special read. Really touched me. So, thanks! I do keep up with you on facebook mostly and entered this contest, but am now just getting around to really catching up on the blog. NOW I'm off to order these books!!! Yay! I'm still old fashioned, I guess. Love to feel the book in my hands! :) Thank you so much for what you do! And thank you for taking your readers along for the journey. I love your Daily Gratitude pics! :) Sarah

Good to hear from you again, Sarah! I know I have some readers who love paper books. And I wasn't ignoring that. It just costs more to add the paperback option, and I wanted to be sure there was enough interest in these titles to warrant it. Happy to say there is! I'm glad you like the Daily Gratitude photos. I'm putting together a book of those, too. But that, I'm sorry to say, will have to be ebook only, because a paper book of 365 high-resolution photos would be prohibitively expensive. Glad you enjoyed Where We Belong!

I had a question about an old post: Do you do workshops? I'm reading 'Don't let me go' and noticed your dedication about your first workshop and getting started. My son writes but is at a loss on how to get started. In your opinion is a workshop the best way? He has Aspergers which limits him in a social way but the plus side of spending so much time in his head are the characters he's created. We self published one book for him and he has an e-book on Amazon but he isn't much of a promoter. He has a blog on cars which is his first love, http://autoistic.blogspot.com/ but I'm sure he has potential (and not just because I'm his mom, he's gotten positive feedback from the public) for his novels. Anyway I would appreciate your feedback if you have the time. By the way I do enjoy your books! I love your dialogue. And the lack of foul language- it's hard to find these days. Thank you for your time, sincerely, Veronica Molinsky
