Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my official blog. If you're looking for something in particular, you might want to type keywords into the search feature on the left-hand side of the page. And I've added a BLOG INDEX on its own page (a bit more complete than the one below) to make it easier. Poking around is also encouraged.

And please do leave comments! Don't be confused by the "author" field in the comment form. When you are writing a message to me and my readers, you are the author. (Nice role reversal, huh?)

NBC Nightly News!

It's close to time, but I'd like to encourage all of you who are interested in Pay It Forward to watch NBC Nightly News tonight. They're going to be doing a story on Pay It Forward/Good Samaritans/Random Acts of Kindness. And they sent a film crew all the way down from San Francisco so the producer could interview me in my home.

I have no idea how long I'll be onscreen, and how much will end up on the cutting room floor. But you might want to tune in, or set it to record.

And I'm sure by about tomorrow it will be accessible on their website, iTunes, etc. So I will update this blog post very soon with a link to the story, for anyone who missed it.

Fingers crossed for how it turns out. But all publicity for Pay It Forward is good publicity, right?

More when available.

Oh. A "P.S.": In honor of my (possibly brief) appearance on NBC Nightly News, and any new readers it might bring, we've chosen my novel When You Were Older to feature at only 99 cents, right through the Thanksgiving weekend. But if you're one of my existing readers, you deserve a deal, too. The 99 cent Kindle ebook is available HERE. Happy reading!

Oh what a wonderful story! You looked beautiful during the interview, too! I did a blog post not that long about about 40 Random Acts of Kindness before my 40th BD. I picked lots of no or low-cost options to show my son that we can change the world without it costing us a fortune. The best part is the joy I see in my child when he completes an act! (And, he's ahead of me so far - not that we are keeping track!)

How amazing it is that it started with 2 people and then you wrote a book and now it is an expression that everyone knows!

Love the news story. Love the trend. Thank you for opening our eyes to these beautiful acts of kindness.

How very cool. They actually sent a film crew! I wondered if they did it by webcam these days. But it was old fashioned journalism! So fun to see you on the national news. I've been debating getting rid of my Direct TV, because I watch it so little, but tonight it was worth it!

It may not be "a new" idea, but it was when you invented it. What a stunning thing to give us all.

That's what blows me away the most, Kate. How EVERYONE uses the phrase.

It is a nice trend for a change, isn't it, Robin? I get discouraged by the news, too.

And Anne, I did get rid of my TV. Had to go around the corner and watch with friends.

I think kindness predates me, Swati, but I certainly am happy to have added the phrase into our daily human mix.
